Ipod vs. Zune
Through out history their have been many improvements in technology. Though the battle between two major companies still rages on. Both Apple and Microsoft produce products that appeal to their customers, and the two products that I am here to talk about are the Apple iPod and the Microsoft Zune. Both products are similar, but each has its own unique software.
Size and looks are both big qualities that draw in customers. Apple produces a variety of iPods each with their own capabilities. While Zune produces only two products. So four to two Apple’s got Microsoft beat on types. Now depending on your preference the look can go either way. The iPod is a sleek, full metal casing that comes in a variety of colors. The Zune is a little bigger and heavier then the iPod videos, and is coated in a rubbery type of material that is harder to scratch and leave finger prints on. It comes in a limited amount of colors such as black and white.
Coming to the second most important detail to the customer would be the capabilities and memory. Apple offers their product with a variety of memory from two to one hundred sixty giga bites. While the Zune offers a four, eight, thirty, and eighty giga bites. Depending on how much memory you want will decide the price at which you have to pay. The Zune and the iPod support music, videos, and pictures, but there are still major differences in the capabilities.
The Zune comes with wi-fi sharing. Enabling you to share songs and other media with other zune users. The only draw back is that it has a three/three system allowing only three plays of that media over a three day period. So basically that option is kind of useless. The Zune also comes with an FM tuner, being able to listen to the radio from the Zune.
The iPod comes with a tough sensitive scroll wheel. While the Zune has your standard directional pad, which I think is easier to use. The last thing that the Zune has would be its screen. It’s a half inch larger then the iPod, and turns horizontally when viewing pictures and videos, which the iPod’s don’t do. The iPod does let you view all your media, but the iPod has a lot more options to it. The iPod comes with calendars, clocks and alarms, stopwatches, and games. The big plus for me would be the games. The reason is because you can buy games from iTunes and upload them to your ipod. The battery for both the iPod and Zune are so pose to last at least twenty hours. So if you were looking at that it doesn’t really matter.
So you heard the pros and cons about both products. Let’s see what you the people had to say. I asked twenty people which product they would want, and fifteen out of twenty said they wanted iPods, two out of twenty wanted Zunes, and the last was undecided. The reason for the people who choose the iPod gave me the same answer, iTunes. Everyone is familiar with iTunes and overall I can see that Apple gives more support to their customers then Microsoft. So if you went with what is popular the iPod wins hands down.
The iPod and Zune have been battling it out. Each person has their sides and each person wants something different. If you want to go with the crowd and have more support for your product then I suggest that you go with the iPod. If you want to be someone different, and stand out then I say go with the Zune. So now that you know a little more about each product. Which will you choose?
